Birch Is Commonly Found In Woods In Britain And Throughout Europe. It Is A Fairly Large Tree, Producing Catkins Of Male And Female Flowers. The Young Bark Has A Papery, Layered External Surface Marked With Linear Brown Lenticels. The Bark Is Used For The Preparation Of Birch Tar Oil By Destructive Distillation And Should Not Be Confused With Sweet Birch Oil Which Is Produced From Betula Lenta.

Birch Leaf have Blood Cleansing, Cellulitis, Arthritis, Joint Inflammation, Sweaty Feet, Gout. Leaves May Be Used To Prepare A Mouthwash. Birch Tar Oil Is Used In Oitments For The Treatment Of Psoriasis And Eczema.
